Job Description

The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services in Illinois is seeking a Data Engineer to transform complex pretrial information into actionable insights that support program improvements across the state. You will report to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, building reports, dashboards, and data integrations that inform policy and practice. This on-site role is based in Springfield, IL, with a salary range of $91,848 to $116,184 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Use SQL, R, and Python to access data, generate reports, evaluate operations, and identify trends.
  • Perform statistical analysis of pretrial data and develop dashboards for senior executive management and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure the integrity of data in pretrial reports produced by OSPS.
  • Evaluate data on pretrial operations to identify trends.
  • Lead integrations with third-party vendors on data integrations and reporting platforms.
  • Implement special research projects related to pretrial functions and operations.
  • Develop best practices for data collection, integration, review, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and foster productive working relationships with third-party software vendors, county pretrial departments, other government agencies, and community agencies regarding pretrial activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pretrial services and related criminal justice and community corrections issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three or more years of proficient use of MSSQL, R, and Python.
  • Three years or more of experience working with qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Ability to be LEADS certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, with a safe driving record.
