Job Description

MPOWERHealth is hiring a Data Engineer to help build scalable data platforms that unify enterprise information for healthcare-focused analytics. The role will acquire, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems, architecting data warehouses and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure in a hybrid setup in Addison, TX.

Role overview

You will lead the engineering work required to turn operational data into enterprise-grade databases. This includes designing robust pipeline orchestration, improving data reliability and performance, and advancing initiatives such as master data management (MDM) and data lineage. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead data integration across Clinical/Healthcare Practice Management Systems, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, HR, Accounting, CRM, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Architect and oversee scalable data platforms and database architectures that support multiple business lines.
  • Design and optimize complex ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, other Azure services, and Python, with an emphasis on reliability and performance.
  • Orchestrate pipelines that leverage AI/LLMs for data extraction from documents and other sources.
  • Drive enterprise initiatives to capture required data and orchestrate sustainable, production-ready databases.
  • Perform advanced data profiling, cleansing, and transformation to support analytics and reporting teams.
  • Implement MDM strategies to maintain data consistency and integrity.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and spearhead automation to reduce delivery time and improve quality.
  • Establish and maintain data lineage, monitoring, and operational tracking systems.
  • Provide hands-on support while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather evolving data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality through documentation, source control, code reviews, and rigorous testing.
  • Identify integration gaps, recommend solutions, and ensure continuous improvement of data processes.
  • Establish and enforce data engineering and integration best practices across the team.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging Azure capabilities, including proofs of concept to determine fit for purpose.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in database and ETL development roles.
  • 4+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • 3+ years working with healthcare and/or financial data or other highly regulated vertical segments.
  • 2+ years using Python.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Azure ecosystem tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server.
  • Strong grasp of data modeling, indexing, and schema design principles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive solutions from conception through production.
  • Effective collaborator and communicator with the ability to interface with all stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
