Job Description
Avera Health is seeking an Enterprise Data Engineer to support the design, development, and upkeep of data systems used for analysis and reporting. This onsite role in Sioux Falls, SD focuses on building reliable data pipelines, improving data quality, and partnering with teams across analytics and business to meet evolving data needs.
Role summary
The Enterprise Data Engineer will help collect, process, and store data through ETL and pipeline workflows, including data validation and ongoing maintenance of a data lake and data warehouse. The work includes monitoring pipeline performance, troubleshooting issues, and documenting data processes and transformations.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data platforms, including a data warehouse and data lake.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of ETL processes.
- Support building data pipelines that move data from source systems into storage environments.
- Contribute to data cleaning and preprocessing to maintain high data quality.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve issues as they occur.
- Maintain system logs to support smooth operation of data processes.
- Assist with maintaining and upgrading existing data infrastructure, including databases and data warehouses.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Document data workflows, pipelines, and technical processes.
- Maintain clear, organized records for data sources and transformations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, analytics, mathematics, business, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Programming knowledge including SQL and Python.
- Familiarity with relational databases, including SQL Server.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and relational database manipulation.
- Experience with data processing tools and frameworks in both on-premises and cloud environments (for example: PySpark, ETL tools, SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and analysts.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Databricks (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Willingness to learn and continue developing data engineering skills.

Compensation and benefits
- Salary: USD 73,840 - 111,800 per year
- PTO: available day 1 for eligible hires
