Job Description

Lutz and Company is expanding its engineering footprint with a Senior Engineer who will establish and lead a new regional office in Sioux Falls. This role combines high‑impact project execution with strategic expansion into targeted markets, primarily in South Dakota, and offers relocation flexibility for the right candidate. The position carries a compensation range of USD 150,000 – 170,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Launch and head the new regional office, acting as the primary technical authority and local representative
Lead infrastructure and process‑driven projects with a focus on wastewater treatment and conveyance systems
Oversee utility and underground infrastructure initiatives as part of the regional portfolio
Drive civil site development projects from concept through delivery
Manage projects involving process plants and industrial facilities
Lead design‑build projects from concept through construction
Conduct and review technical designs, providing redlines and stamped reviews where applicable
Collaborate with construction and field teams to ensure constructible, cost‑effective solutions
Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing local engineering and project management team
Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, agencies, and private‑sector clients
Drive business development, proposals, and regional growth initiatives
Navigate local permitting, codes, and design standards

Requirements

Civil Engineer or Mechanical Engineer; PE license is highly preferred
5–7+ years of experience in process plant or industrial facility design
Experience with design‑build or integrated engineering and construction delivery
Proven leadership at the project, team, or office level
Ability to balance technical work with project management and business development
Strong communication skills and an entrepreneurial mindset
