Data Engineer

Avera Health is seeking a Data Engineer to help build and support the data systems that enable reliable collection, processing, storage, validation, and access to data for analytics and reporting. This onsite role in Sioux Falls, SD 57104 focuses on designing pipelines and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps data workflows running smoothly.

In this position, you will support ETL and data pipeline development, help monitor performance, and contribute to data documentation and operational consistency across teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop data systems such as a data warehouse and data lake.
• Assist in developing and maintaining ETL processes.
• Support building data pipelines that collect and move data from source systems to storage platforms.
• Help with data cleaning and preprocessing to maintain high data quality.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and address issues as they arise.
• Maintain system logs to help ensure smooth operation of data processes.
• Assist with maintaining and upgrading existing data infrastructure, including databases and data warehouses.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Document data workflows, pipelines, and technical processes.
• Maintain organized records for data sources and transformations.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, analytics, mathematics, business, or related fields (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience).
• At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of programming languages including SQL and Python.
• Familiarity with relational databases, including SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of SQL for querying and manipulating relational databases.
• Exposure to data processing tools and frameworks across on-premises and cloud environments, such as PySpark, ETL tools, SSIS, and Azure Data Factory.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and other engineers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as Databricks and AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in data engineering technologies.

Salary: USD 73,840 - 123,240 per year
