Data Engineer I

Servco Pacific Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer I to serve as an individual contributor on Hawaii Mobility data initiatives. This onsite role in Honolulu, HI focuses on creating and supporting ingestion and transformation pipelines that make data reliable for reporting, operations, and AI-ready use cases.

The position includes working with internal systems and external APIs to transform and model data, validate results, and keep documentation current. With guidance and review, you will help ensure governed data is available and understandable for downstream teams.

What you’ll do

• Build, test, document, and maintain defined ingestion and transformation pipelines with guidance and review.
• Assist with models, mappings, integration checks, lineage, and data quality for reporting and AI-ready data.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of pipelines; escalate complex incidents and help with critical operations as needed.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and senior Data Engineers to deliver governed data that matches approved solution designs.
• Investigate data quality exceptions, document root causes and fixes, and keep source mappings and operating notes updated.
• Help maintain metadata, definitions, access requests, and lineage so downstream users can find and trust approved data.
• Learn Servco business systems and key engineering tools (including Databricks, Azure, Python, SQL, and Git) through coached delivery, including testing and documentation.
• Follow governance requirements and secure data handling standards while expanding ownership through feedback.
• Listen to operators and understand how customer, sales, service, and finance data informs day-to-day decisions, using feedback to improve assigned data work.

What you’ll bring

• A relevant degree or equivalent experience; Databricks coursework or certification; practical SQL/Python projects or analytics team experience (preferred).
• Foundational knowledge of SQL and Python with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience through projects, internships, or equivalent demonstrated skills.
• Familiarity with data integration, basic modeling, APIs, Git, and collaborative problem solving.
• Exposure to Databricks, Azure, automated testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code is helpful (advanced proficiency is not expected for this entry-level role).
• Commitment to quality, documentation, secure handling, and learning through review.

Compensation: USD 72,900 - 110,820 per year.
