Job Description
Build and operate data pipelines and models that support Kind Lending’s Snowflake data platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest source-system data into Snowflake using a governed Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion architecture.
- Develop and maintain CDC-based replication and ingestion pipelines using tools such as OpenFlow, Fivetran, or comparable options, ensuring data arrives reliably and on schedule.
- Write and optimize SQL, stored procedures, views, and scheduled tasks in Snowflake to transform raw data into clean, business-ready datasets.
- Create Python-based scripts, automation, and integrations to support ingestion, transformation, monitoring, and governance workflows.
- Design and maintain dimensional and semantic data models (fact and dimension tables, star schema, and surrogate keys) for reporting and self-service analytics.
- Partner with BI developers to build semantic-layer views that power Power BI dashboards, keeping business logic in the data platform instead of in DAX.
- Monitor pipeline health and data quality; implement observability and logging; troubleshoot issues across ingestion and transformation layers.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs (including Jira and other ticketing or operational platforms) into the data warehouse to centralize reporting.
- Document pipelines, data models, and processes with clear technical documentation for internal teams.
- Collaborate with the Data & Business Intelligence team on platform governance, security, and access management best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4-6+ years of experience in a data engineering or similar data platform role.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Synapse.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and pipeline development.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and CDC-based replication (e.g., OpenFlow, Fivetran, or similar tools).
- Solid understanding of data modeling, including medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold), star schema, and dimensional modeling.
- Familiarity with Power BI (or similar BI tools) and how upstream models support dashboards and reporting.
- Experience using Jira or similar ticketing/project tracking tools to manage and document engineering work.
- Comfort with Git and general software engineering best practices.
- Mortgage, lending, or financial services industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player mentality and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment aligned with Kind Culture.
