Job Description

Farm Credit Financial Partners seeks a Data Engineer IV to transform raw data into analysis-ready insights and to expand the data pipeline for its Association partners. Based in Springfield, MA with a hybrid work arrangement, this role leads the development of data platforms that support strategic initiatives aligned with enterprise objectives, while mentoring engineers and shaping governance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and architect an enterprise-scale data engineering project team operating in a matrix organization.
  • Provide strategic direction for the design, enhancement, and ongoing support of data platforms.
  • Drive the data engineering strategy by guiding process improvements, including automating manual tasks, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for scalability.
  • Build and optimize the infrastructure to enable efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of data from diverse sources.
  • Oversee engineering standards via code reviews to ensure quality and best practices.
  • Shape enterprise-wide data governance policies in collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders, covering data quality, management, policies, business process management, and risk related to data handling.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers.
  • Communicate technical direction to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders; promote an innovative team culture and process improvements during development.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in data engineering practices and enterprise data strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or MIS
  • 10+ years of experience in data modeling and cloud technologies
  • Expert with Azure technology stack including Databricks, Data Factory, SQL, Python, and Power BI
  • 2+ years of leading large, distributed technical teams
  • Ability to work comfortably in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Strong organization, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong customer service focus (data consumers as customers)
  • Familiar with software development best practices
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Artificial Intelligence concepts and technologies, including or similar to ChatGPT, Claude, Windsurf, Perplexity AI, Grok, Gemini

Essential Functions

  • Ability to report to work in person and attend work-related functions/activities.
  • Ability to work at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed.
  • This role is designated as either hybrid (work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) or remote (fully offsite). Exceptions may be made based on business needs. The company reserves the right to change a position’s designation at any time.
