Design/ Mechanical Engineer

Springfield Sign is seeking a Design/Mechanical Engineer to join the on-site team in Springfield, Missouri. This role blends design engineering with quality assurance, focusing on implementing procedures, conducting defect analysis and root-cause problem solving, and ensuring products meet customer specifications and quality objectives. The position supports new product development and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold high quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the Springfield Sign Quality program and related quality practices
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
• Participate in internal and vendor audits as directed
• Coordinate CAPA activities, including root-cause analysis and short- and long-term corrective and preventive actions
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage document control and change management tasks as assigned
• Assist with new product development activities
• Perform additional tasks in quality, project, and product development as needed
• Adhere to all safety rules and policies
• Willingness to travel as required
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities as part of the role

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in a quality field
• Drafting experience is a plus
• Experience with cGMP or ISO 9000 and familiarity with Six Sigma or CQE is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Awareness of and experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives is a plus
