Drainage Design Engineer

What you’ll do
- Develop and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and technical reports for transportation projects, including roadway, bridge, and culvert drainage systems.
- Apply drainage design standards, criteria, and agency guidelines to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability in stormwater and roadway drainage designs.
- Collaborate with roadway, structural, environmental, and other disciplines, along with clients and reviewing agencies, to integrate drainage requirements into the overall project design.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, storm sewer and culvert sizing, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs for assigned drainage components of transportation projects.
- Assist with quality assurance reviews, address drainage-related design comments, and provide technical support during plan reviews or field questions.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 5 to 10+ years of transportation drainage experience, including TxDOT projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency in Microstation ORD, AutoCad, and Civil3D.
- Proposal writing or marketing experience is a plus.
- Hybrid work environment familiarity, combining office duties with field activities and potential exposure to weather and site conditions.
- Physical ability to perform duties such as sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 35 lbs, with possible vehicle operation and field tasks.
