Drainage Design Engineer
Job Description
Consor Engineers is seeking a Drainage Design Engineer to join our Austin, Texas team in a hybrid work arrangement. The role centers on the hydrologic and hydraulic design of roadway drainage systems for transportation projects, guided by senior engineers with increasing ownership across tasks. A Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering is required, and candidates typically bring five or more years of transportation drainage experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and technical reports for transportation projects including roadway, bridge, and culvert drainage systems.
- Apply governing drainage design standards, criteria, and agency guidelines to ensure accurate, compliant, and constructible stormwater and roadway drainage designs.
- Collaborate with roadway, structural, environmental, and other disciplines, as well as clients and reviewing agencies, to incorporate drainage requirements into the overall project design.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, size storm sewers and culverts, and prepare cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for the drainage components of transportation projects.
- Support quality assurance reviews, address drainage-related design comments, and provide technical support during plan reviews or field inquiries.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 5-10+ years of transportation drainage experience with TxDOT projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency in MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD, and Civil3D software.
