Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
Mac Incorporated is hiring an Electrical / Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer to support engineering design and technical delivery for modifications, retrofits, and equipment upgrades at a nuclear power facility. The role focuses on producing engineering calculations and documentation, coordinating with project and plant teams, and providing on-site support during implementation and outages.
Based in Baxley, GA with onsite work, this position offers a USD 90,000 - 160,000 annual salary range and is intended for candidates with relevant engineering experience and strong documentation, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) designs for plant modifications and upgrades.
- Prepare and update engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Develop project cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications.
- Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and confirm design constructability.
- Provide technical oversight of engineering designs produced by outside Architect/Engineering firms.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Implementation Engineers, and plant personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
- Support installation and implementation of plant modifications.
- Provide engineering support during refueling outages, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Support and oversee post-modification testing.
- Manage special engineering projects as assigned.
- Participate in on-call Duty Engineer and Emergency Plan response assignments.
- Be able to report to the plant within 90 minutes when required for Emergency Plan responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution OR Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred.
- Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Controls engineering background.
- Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards required.
- Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nuclear industry regulatory requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of BWR systems, structures, and components preferred.
- Electrical power system analysis and protection experience preferred.
- Experience with ETAP and/or CAPTOR preferred.
- Strong engineering calculation, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
