Job Description

The Electrical Engineer role supports plant performance and safe, efficient operations by evaluating electrical issues and developing engineering solutions. In this onsite position in Shelby, OH, you will partner with production and maintenance teams and help advance capital projects from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical panels.
  • Commission electrical equipment and systems.
  • Create conceptual designs for capital projects, project approval requests (P.A.R.s), and related engineering initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions.
  • Manage engineering projects from concept through full implementation.
  • Design, install, and optimize engineered electrical control systems.
  • Produce schematic drawings for new manufacturing equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC systems.
  • Develop and program HMI platforms that interface with PLC and control systems.
  • Design and manage power distribution equipment and infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in steel pipe or tube production.
  • Essential experience with power distribution systems and applicable electrical codes.
  • Strong experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting of complex PLC control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with digital drives (AC and DC).
  • Proficiency in plant power distribution systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC codes and electrical standards.
  • Proficiency in programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC and PanelView operator interfaces.
  • Ability to read, program, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and other machine codes to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and act on data effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings and training sessions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and respect, demonstrating tact and diplomacy in all interactions.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley controls and drives.
  • Knowledge and experience with AC and DC crane systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, and move throughout the plant as needed.
  • Sitting for long periods of time and performing repetitive movements.

  • Ability to hear, speak, and write clearly in person, by email, and over the phone.
