Job Description

Burt Process Equipment builds custom automated process equipment, and this Electrical Engineer role helps move projects from electrical design through testing and documentation. You will work onsite in Cromwell, CT supporting manufacturing engineering with control system design, electrical panel development, and clear technical deliverables that help teams execute confidently.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design of electrical controls aligned to UL508A in support of the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Develop and complete control panels, starting with electrical schematics through testing and final documentation.
  • Create user manuals for the electrical capabilities of the equipment, including troubleshooting guidance.
  • Produce electrical CAD drawings, test specifications, and technical reports.
  • Partner with process engineering by providing input on P&IDs, electrical design, sequence of operations, test procedures, and other project details.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (required).
  • 5–7 years of experience covering electrical design, testing, and technical writing.
  • Proficiency with computers/software and MS Office, specifically Excel and Work.
  • AutoCAD Electrical (required).
  • Knowledge of NEC electrical codes, requirements, and standards.
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI software (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Familiarity with NEMA, NFPA, and Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
