Job Description

Accutron, Inc is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support electronics manufacturing and engineering teams across multiple sites. The role is centered on hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and validation of electronic assemblies and PCBs, with additional support for prototypes through production.

This position will support three locations: Milford, CT, Windsor, CT, and Jacksonville, IL, with the work location listed as onsite in Windsor, CT. Salary for this role is USD 80,000 - 110,000 per year, and the position requires 8+ years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic assemblies and PCBs to confirm functionality and reliability.
  • Work with microcontroller-based systems ranging from 8-bit to 32-bit, including peripherals such as RTC, Timers, ADC, DAC, PWM, Interrupts, DMA, Capture/Compare, and UART.
  • Program and configure C compilers, work with or without RTOS environments, and interface with communication stacks such as USB, TCP/IP, CAN, and Modbus RTU.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing activities, including PCB layout review for 2–6 layers, component placement, and considerations for high-current/high-voltage designs.
  • Operate and maintain engineering pick-and-place equipment, including component loading, adjustment for odd shapes, and verification of placement accuracy.
  • Perform fine-pitch SMT soldering and rework down to 0402 components using both leaded and lead-free solder.
  • Assemble, test, and debug prototypes and pre-production units to ensure alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Develop and build test jigs, simulators, and fixtures, including wiring schematics and panel layouts, with safe use of hand tools.
  • Operate and interpret results from oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, and high-voltage power supplies.
  • Create and refine Bills of Materials (BOMs) by cross-referencing general components to in-house part numbers, ordering prototypes, and applying appropriate scrap factors.
  • Maintain accurate, repeatable test data and support root cause analysis for production or field issues.
  • Install and troubleshoot engineering software, firmware tools, and driver issues as needed for testing or production support.
  • Perform data collection and feasibility analysis, supporting process or product improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support builds, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Use Outlook, Word, Excel, SolidWorks, CAB, and online databases to locate technical documentation, data sheets, and component specifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. in compliance with ITAR regulations.
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, or manufacturing support.
  • Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures, embedded systems, and communication protocols.
  • Skilled in using test and measurement equipment for signal tracing and circuit validation.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT soldering, rework, and prototype assembly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fine motor skills for working with small components and lab tools.
