Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple projects
- Research and develop equipment and material recommendations
- Manage data and perform complex engineering calculations
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines
- Lead larger production teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project
- Apply Black & Veatch quality program consistently and independently for assigned tasks
- Ensure compliance with the quality program during internal QA technical reviews
- Provide guidance to colleagues on the same project and discipline
- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Identify key client interests and drivers for projects
- Communicate client concerns to the project team and develop solutions
- Support business development or pursuit activities
- Manage project changes with the client under Project Manager supervision
- Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables
- Lead large multi-discipline teams to meet project deliverables
- Provide technical leadership for distribution line projects
- Drive solutions to achieve project goals
- Review lower-level engineering work or assignments
- Oversee data collection, assimilation, and management for engineering work
- Lead smaller production teams or serve as the responsible charge for a project
- Manage work assignments and ensure quality from the project team
- Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and resource planning meetings
Requirements
- Experience managing engineering design services for overhead and underground distribution line projects for investor owned utilities in the United States
- Experience in design of overhead and underground distribution projects (4 kV to 34.5 kV)
- Strong communication skills and interest in engaging with clients to grow relationships
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards including NESC and NEC
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary project coordination: procurement, subcontract administration, permitting, real estate and land acquisition, and construction support
- Working knowledge of the proposal process and developing engineering estimates
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and ability to support where necessary
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations)
