Job Description

In this multi-discipline project engineering role, you’ll help develop engineering solutions that support capital improvements for commercial nuclear power plants. The work blends technical development, stakeholder coordination, and field execution, with opportunities to support safe and reliable nuclear operations through modifications, outage coverage, and emergent issue response. This is an onsite position in Russellville, AR with up to ~25% travel.

What you’ll do

  • Complete assigned qualifications to support delivery of engineering work products
  • Meet with stakeholders to identify problems requiring engineering solutions
  • Develop and present potential solutions to stakeholders and leadership
  • Create efficient modification packages aligned with defined standards and procedures
  • Develop scoping reports, including evaluation of impacted controlled documents (calculations, reports, drawings, vendor manuals, procedures, and licensing documents)
  • Perform in-discipline evaluations and analyses
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Interface with vendors, stakeholders, and leadership to coordinate execution
  • Work with enterprise software suites, including Maximo, CMISDP, and eB Reflib
  • Organize and present engineering products to stakeholders and leadership
  • Develop modification test plans and support modification installation, which may include extended work hours during outages
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets and schedules
  • Develop and administer engineering contracts and identify the appropriate process for assigned activities
  • Provide technical support to facilitate the safe, reliable operation of nuclear power
  • Deliver engineering field support in industrial and radiologically controlled environments, including work requiring PPE, navigating constrained spaces, climbing stairs and ladders, accessing elevated platforms, and working in areas that are difficult to reach
  • Perform walkdowns and inspections in hot, cold, noisy, or low-visibility conditions while adhering to safety, radiological, and procedural requirements
  • Serve on outage engineering support teams, an emergent issue response team, and the emergency response organization

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering (or comparable engineering discipline) from an ABET-accredited program providing the foundational education to facilitate completion of assigned activities.

  • Engineer I: 0–2 years’ experience in nuclear power design or equivalent experience
  • Engineer II: 2–3 years’ experience in nuclear power design or equivalent experience (1+ year with master’s degree)
  • Engineer III: 4–5 years’ experience in nuclear power design or equivalent experience (3+ years with PE/master’s degree)
  • Sr. Engineer: 8+ years, based on overall experience and prior role evaluations (5+ years with PE/master’s degree)
  • Sr. Lead Engineer: Discretionary level awarded based on demonstrated leadership, proficiency, and expertise

Required skills

  • Proficient problem solving
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in PC applications, engineering tools, and analytical systems appropriate to the engineering level
