Job Description

The Engineering Entry Program (EEP) Engineer at Consumers Energy participates in a full-time two-year engineering rotation across electric and gas segments, with four six-month assignments, leading to a full-time placement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, construct, and maintain Electric Distribution, Electric Generation, Gas Distribution, and/or Gas Transmission systems, along with facilities and ancillary support processes for all utility operations.
  • Lead or assist with engineering projects across design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental considerations, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigations.
  • Generate reports, graphics, presentations and other visual materials for senior engineers and leadership; may include occasional speaking or meetings with internal and external stakeholders to present findings.
  • Inspect operating and construction sites to monitor progress in accordance with the design documents.
  • Utilize computer aided engineering, design and drafting software and related equipment to prepare engineering documents, adhering to company standard procedures for each project, including plans, specifications, maps, and related materials.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates safe work practices and adheres to company compliance standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, including creating presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for rapidly learning new skills and concepts and adapting to changing situations.
  • Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Engineering degree from a non-ABET-accredited university plus a Professional Engineering license.
  • Prior engineering internship experience.
