Job Description

CFAN Company, based in San Marcos, TX, is seeking an Engineering Support - Metrology Engineer to work onsite. The role supports Metrology, Production, Manufacturing and Quality teams, guiding operators through specialized studies and projects while helping load and run parts for new productions until training is complete. This position reports to the Engineering Leader and offers a pathway to contribute across calibration, inspection, and process improvement initiatives with a focus on metrology reliability and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to CMM operators to ensure accurate measurements and compliant procedures.
  • Review and disposition nonconforming parts for MRB, coordinating with quality teams as needed.
  • Support qualification and ongoing authority management for CMM operators and related credentials.
  • Keep the Master Blade Schedule current and ensure EMAN records are up to date.
  • Develop and implement metrology focused changes and failure mode analyses using MOCs and FMEAs.
  • Maintain EMAN and CMM configuration control, including tolerance locks, nominal updates, weight settings, and system parameters.
  • Prepare and maintain RI Plans as required.
  • Audit nominal data, drawings, CAD geometry, CMM programs, fixtures, gages, pedestals, vise jaws, racks, and related tooling.
  • Coordinate CID changes and ensure consistent adoption across CMM programs and reporting platforms.
  • Create and maintain Planning and SQA documentation for CMM Programs and Visual Inspection.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and verify documentation accuracy.
  • Validate and sustain calibration of CMM spheres and components, updating calibration data within CMM systems.
  • Develop CM4D templates and collaborate with Engineering to ensure accurate reporting and visualization.
  • Reprocess blade software reports and generate plots upon request.
  • Support development and testing of future GE AFDA software.
  • Lead or facilitate Correlation, CDMS, and GR&R activities for software buyoff and measurement system validation.
  • Track and publish quarterly CMM utilization reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership.

Requirements

  • Professional training and relevant hands-on experience.
  • Programming experience in the PCDMIS environment.
  • Proficiency in programming and using BLADE.
  • Experience managing a program library with Document Control.
  • Participation in establishing programming strategy, best practices, and manufacturing methods.
  • Modeling and analysis using UG NX10 or current version.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Basic knowledge of machining processes and tolerances.
  • 3 to 6 years of related experience.

Physical requirements

The role requires the ability to lift files and access filing cabinets, and occasional bending or standing, though work is primarily performed while seated at a desk with computer use. Occasional reaching and handling occur when mounting blades in root clamps and placing them on inspection tables. Loading parts into holding fixtures is expected on occasion.
