Entry Level Transportation Engineer (0-3yrs)
Job Description
Entry level Transportation Engineer in Hampton, NJ (hybrid) will support Highway Design across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, contributing to traffic analysis, signal and lighting design, roadway and sidewalk/civil layouts, and guide sign design on a range of projects.
Responsibilities
- Collect traffic data and perform assessments and analyses.
- Design and review highway and traffic engineering plans, including traffic signal plans, signing and striping plans, street lighting plans, curb ramp layout details, roadway plans, and traffic maintenance or traffic plans.
- Conduct traffic analysis and develop timing plans for implementation.
- Plan roadway engineering and sidewalk/curb ramp layouts.
- Develop lighting designs for roadways, roundabouts, intersections, bridges, parking lots, and trails.
- Prepare Plans, Specifications and Engineer's Estimates.
- Produce technical writing and assist with preparation of report documents and presentations.
- Perform field visits and document existing conditions to support project activities.
Requirements
- 0 to 3 years of experience in Transportation or Civil Engineering Consulting in New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required.
- EIT certification required; NJ, PA, or NY PE license/PTOE certification, or ability to obtain preferred.
- Experience with NJDOT Standards and Traffic Signal/Electrical CADD plans.
- Experience with PennDOT Publications and Manuals.
- Familiarity with NJDOT/PennDOT/Turnpike Authority and Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ) guidelines and standards.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation V8i/Open Roads.
- Knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM and ITE Trip Generation guidelines.
- Knowledge of Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS 2010, Visual Lighting, GuidSign, AutoTurn software.
- Experience with field data collection, traffic operation evaluations, and presenting findings.
- Ability to create professional deliverables using client standards.
- Ability to work independently and communicate scope, schedule, and budget with supervisors and project leadership.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
