Estimating Engineer
Job Description
RITZ Machine Works offers a dynamic, collaborative environment focused on design, development, and optimization of manufacturing systems. This onsite role in Cambridge, MN provides the opportunity to drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across fabrication, tube bending, and assembly operations. The position pays USD 28.00 to 35.00 per hour and requires a bachelor’s degree.
Responsibilities
- Design and enhance manufacturing processes with a focus on tube bending, assembly lines, and fabrication methods to boost efficiency and quality.
- Create and modify tooling, fixtures, and jigs using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) to enable production workflows.
- Program and troubleshoot robotics and CNC equipment.
- Evaluate project specs and technical requirements to generate precise labor and material cost estimates.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and production to verify project details and ensure estimates are realistic and accurate.
- Assess project details to determine material, labor, and equipment needs, adjusting costs as appropriate.
- Update estimates as project details change to maintain accuracy through the quoting lifecycle.
- Perform root-cause analyses on production problems and implement corrective actions to reduce defects and downtime.
- Produce detailed schematics, process flow diagrams, and technical documentation aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
- Lead initiatives in process engineering, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement, including factory layout optimization.
- Improve existing manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and cut costs.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed successfully.
- Develop detailed system and machinery schematics for production use.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field; advanced certifications in manufacturing or process engineering are a plus.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing facility with hands-on knowledge of factory operations and lean manufacturing.
- Solid mechanical foundation with proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD or equivalents.
- Experience programming CNC machines, robot programming, and CAM.
