Financial Data Engineer

Work as a hands-on Financial Data Engineer building financial data infrastructure for Finance and FP&A. This remote role in the United States focuses on reliable ETL/ELT pipelines, strong data modeling, and integrations that keep reporting and planning systems accurate and on time.

What you can build and improve

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines connecting NetSuite, Azure, Power BI, and other enterprise financial applications.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, validate, and load financial and operational data.
• Create SQL assets including complex queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformation scripts.
• Support financial reporting datasets and Power BI reporting infrastructure used by Finance and FP&A stakeholders.
• Build and optimize financial data models for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.

How your work keeps reporting dependable

• Troubleshoot integration failures, broken data connections, and reporting inconsistencies to minimize business disruption.
• Manage data dependencies, schema changes, and updates to NetSuite saved-search logic that can affect downstream reporting.
• Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across financial applications and reporting environments.
• Implement automated data validation, monitoring, and quality controls.
• Improve system reliability with error handling, automated alerts, and integration monitoring.

Integrations and ongoing modernization

• Evaluate existing integrations and develop more reliable, scalable, and maintainable internal solutions.
• Support data integration and reporting requirements related to the Workday Adaptive Planning implementation.
• Maintain and enhance financial data flows between NetSuite and connected reporting and planning platforms.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders on financial systems enhancements and integration initiatives.
• Support changes to reporting structures, data mappings, and business processes as systems evolve.
• Contribute to long-term strategy for scalable financial data architecture and reporting infrastructure.

Documentation and collaboration

• Develop technical documentation covering data architecture, integrations, transformations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with finance teams to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions.
• Work with stakeholders to support financial systems changes and evolving reporting needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, financial systems integration, or a related technical role.
• Strong SQL development, including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and system-to-system data integrations.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure data services or other cloud-based data integration environments.
• Experience supporting Power BI datasets, data models, and reporting infrastructure.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve data pipeline failures, integration errors, and reporting inconsistencies.
• Understanding of relational databases, data transformation, and data quality practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage technical issues from investigation through resolution.
• Effective communication skills and experience collaborating with finance and business stakeholders.
