Fire Protection Engineer

This direct hire position in Downers Grove, IL focuses on the design, engineering, and development of fire protection systems for commercial and industrial projects. The Fire Protection Engineer will handle technical design responsibilities, perform code and plan reviews, and support coordination across project stakeholders through permitting and field-related needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer fire protection and fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and applicable fire protection codes and standards.
• Complete hydraulic calculations, develop system layouts, and produce technical design documentation.
• Prepare engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, submittals, and related documentation.
• Coordinate fire protection designs with project managers, contractors, architects, engineers, and other trades.
• Assist with permitting and approvals, support constructability reviews, and help resolve design or field-related issues.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience.

Compensation

• Salary range: USD 80,000 to 120,000 per year
