Ground Software Engineer

Barrios Technology is hiring a Ground Software Engineer in Houston, TX (onsite) to build and support web-based ground systems for mission use.

Responsibilities

• Develop web-based ground systems for commanding, telemetry monitoring, and mission planning
• Own the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
• Participate in Agile development cycles, including sprint planning, integration, and verification activities
• Collaborate with Mission Operations teams to support system integration and readiness
• Support mission operations simulations
• Integrate software solutions in a multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Interface with hardware design and development teams
• Provide technical input during major milestones and program reviews
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technology, Physics, or Math from an accredited institution, plus five (5) years of related software development experience
• Experience with Git-based platforms (e.g., GitLab, GitHub)
• Experience with at least one backend framework (e.g., ASP.NET, Flask)
• Proficiency with Linux commands, system tools, and bash scripting
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming (e.g., C/C++)
• Experience working on cross-disciplinary engineering teams
• Strong communication, coordination, and presentation skills
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with customers and stakeholders
• U.S. Citizenship required; must successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
• Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• Work may involve sitting for extended periods
• May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb
• Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary
• Generally an office environment, with possible inside or outside work depending on task
• Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
• Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical
• Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule for peak periods and surge requirements when required
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere

• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not pose a safety risk/hazard
• May require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
