Johnson Controls invites you to join an onsite HVAC Controls System Engineer I role in Arlington Heights, IL. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and implement complete HVAC control systems to meet project requirements and intent.
- Ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs; develop complex software, perform commissioning, and secure proper operation of the building control system.
- Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation teams, and subcontractors.
- Develop technically complex building control system designs per contract documents; create drawings such as flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per project intent.
- Select, order, and track material deliveries for assigned projects; coordinate factory mounting to meet schedules.
- Assist with loading and commissioning of system and network level controllers; validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information for as-built drawings and software, and keep management and customers informed of progress and issues.
- Participate in site-specific owner/operator training for the total building control system and join release meetings with the project field team.
- Contribute to value engineering to deliver cost-effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- May provide work direction to Systems Design Assistants; uphold safety standards with a strong emphasis on Zero Harm principles.
- Travel may be required for this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
- Understanding of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and related subsystems.
- Experience with Metasys is a plus.
- Proven ability to integrate low voltage building sub-systems using industry protocols, primarily BACnet.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Advanced computer skills, including computer-aided drafting tools.
- Regular ability to travel.
