Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Cimarron Software Services offers engineering and technical support for mission-critical defense infrastructure, with a senior role supporting the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Air Force Sentinel program (formerly GBSD). This on-site position in Ogden, UT includes a 9X80 work schedule (every other Friday off) and paid overtime, supporting a strong work-life rhythm. For non-local candidates, relocation assistance may be available.

In this role, you will help design instrumentation and controls solutions that align with program expectations for security, quality, and schedule. You’ll also use industry-standard tools to develop and validate engineering deliverables that support design, construction, and integration activities in support of Sentinel launch infrastructure at multiple Air Force locations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop systems and equipment for the USAF Sentinel program in accordance with codes, standards, and contract requirements.
• Develop control system designs for facility utilities including HVAC, lighting, and power systems.
• Create and review P&IDs, logic diagrams, functional block diagrams, and instrument data sheets using AutoCAD.
• Generate instrument index and I/O lists using automated tools and vendor inputs.
• Prepare specifications and procurement documentation using SpecsIntact.
• Evaluate vendor submittals and incorporate findings into design solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and systems engineers to execute work plans.
• Ensure designs meet security requirements in coordination with government stakeholders.
• Maintain quality and schedule adherence throughout design execution.

Requirements

• Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to complete work requiring access to federal facilities, including possessing a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued identification at hire.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, including testing for marijuana use.
• 12 or more years of relevant experience, including drawings, calculations, and specifications for systems and equipment in nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.
• Extensive experience with commercial HVAC (Building Management System) design and integration engineering specialist.
• Experience designing systems for industrial or government facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and office automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of control systems design principles, codes, and standards.
• Ability to review and develop technical drawings, data sheets, and specifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.

Salary: $145,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
