Job Description

Danos is hiring an Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical Engineer III for an onsite role in Spring, TX supporting upstream oil and gas facilities engineering teams in the Midland Basin. This full-time position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with a flexible schedule option, plus comprehensive benefits including 401(k) with matching, medical and dental coverage, life and vision insurance, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

You will provide engineering support across instrumentation, medium/low voltage electrical systems, and control systems, helping facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable standards. Key duties include:

  • Conduct continuous surveillance, analysis, and management of instruments, medium/low voltage electrical equipment, and control systems to support efficient and safe operations.
  • Specify instrumentation and medium/low voltage electrical and control systems for onshore facilities, selecting appropriate instruments, sensors, equipment, and control devices.
  • Oversee installation and setup of IC&E equipment and systems, verifying proper function and alignment with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in area risk activities including Risk Assessment, HAZOPs, Hazard Hunts, and Critical Operating Parameter Reviews.
  • Support incident investigations and help translate findings into actionable improvements.
  • Contribute to opportunity management by identifying potential work and helping develop scope of work for projects.
  • Collect and analyze instrumentation and control data to improve processes and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Recommend and implement upgrades to instrumentation and electrical and/or control systems to keep pace with industry standards and technology.
  • Support SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment.
  • Provide operations support for changes, repairs, and alterations of plant pressure equipment leveraging the Management of Change process.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams including facilities engineers, machinery engineers, operations, and maintenance personnel.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rectify issues related to instrumentation, medium/low voltage electrical equipment, and control systems; provide shutdown engineering support.
  • Support brownfield upgrade and greenfield project engineering, preparing and reviewing IC&E deliverables (including one-line diagrams, Cause & Effect diagrams, Controls Narrative, wiring diagrams, installation details, instrument index, and cable schedule), whether performed internally or by contractors and subcontractors, ensuring work follows company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated work experience in Upstream Oil & Gas Production support.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria including ISA, National Electrical Code, ISA84, API RP 551, NEC, NETA MTS for electrical maintenance and inspection, and applying NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace (Arc Flash).
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent priority changes.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking for technical and business communication.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements.
