Instrumentation & Controls Engineer IV
Job Description
This role leads the instrumentation and controls engineering discipline for RPT Alliance in Houston, TX, providing strategic direction, technical oversight, and mentorship to drive execution excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform equipment sizing and selection, conduct alternative analyses, and prepare associated deliverables.
- Support the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities for facilities.
- Present engineering and design deliverables to project members, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Plan, forecast, and track deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule requirements.
- Identify scope changes and estimate their impact on effort and schedule.
- Support proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, listing deliverables, and estimating required effort.
- Operate with a high degree of independence.
- Prepare, review, and approve instrumentation equipment, conduit and wiring calculations, requisitions, lists, studies, reports, BOMs, and designs.
- Develop Operating Controls Philosophy and Cause and Effect Diagrams; review HMI layouts and Network Architecture Diagrams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Seven or more years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer PE license preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of instrument and controls engineering principles and practices.
- Advanced proficiency in engineering software and tools for system design, simulation, and analysis.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- In-depth understanding of process control systems and automation technologies.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to develop and implement instrumentation and control engineering standards and guidelines.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
