Job Description

Integrated Air Defense Systems Test Engineer - SME with Astrion, onsite at Eglin AFB, FL, providing testing, integration, and evaluation support for IADS sensors and C2 systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead testing, integration, and evaluation of sensors and C2 systems within an advanced IADS architecture.
  • Design and implement Master Test Plans for complex IADS configurations.
  • Develop MOPs and MOEs for C2 and sensor nodes.
  • Assess sensor integration and conduct tests of advanced sensors (Radar, RF, EO/IR) in contested environments; lead troubleshooting of complex sensor anomalies and tracking degradation.
  • Support C2 interoperability by evaluating C2 logic, threat evaluation, and weapon assignment algorithms.
  • Validate multi-sensor data fusion and non-kinetic effects, including electronic warfare (EW).
  • Analyze results and prepare final test reports for senior leadership; provide engineering recommendations to program managers for system design upgrades.
  • Offer specialized technical expertise on critical customer questions and issues.
  • Assist in developing system requirements, functional capabilities, performance measures, design constraints, test phase entry and exit criteria, and metrics.
  • Support development test, operational test, force development evaluation, and certification activities for test readiness by identifying deficiencies, verifying specification compliance, and maintaining a stable system configuration.
  • Prepare, execute, review, and analyze test plans, procedures, metrics, and reports across the system under test life cycle.
  • Develop and document test methods, cases, procedures, directives, technical reports, and test objectives.
  • Review requirements and related test process documents as needed during testing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor test projects that require adapting standard practices or instrumentation to obtain valid results.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate tests; assess feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests.
  • Provide recommendations on conventional testing aspects.
  • Coordinate schedules, pre and post-test activities, and document test results.
  • Travel to military ranges and other locations to execute tests, manage data collection and reduction, perform analyses, oversee configuration management, set up hardware, troubleshoot, and produce deficiency reports and official test reports.

Requirements

  • Typically recognized industry leaders with a technical Master’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • 10-15+ years in IADS, C2 and sensor testing; recognized authority in air defense architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of radar kinematics, multi-sensor fusion algorithms, tactical data links, and synthetic threat emulation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to meet mission requirements.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team and to lead and direct others.
