IT Support Specialist/Tech Support Engineer

Alternative Information Systems is hiring a full-time, onsite IT Support Specialist/Tech Support Engineer to support SMB and Public Sector clients across the WNY area. The role is based in Buffalo and focuses on day-to-day end-user support, device installation and configuration, and maintaining core Windows and Active Directory environments.

With a Monday through Friday schedule and occasional off-hours support for special projects, this position combines hands-on troubleshooting with consistent documentation through a ticketing system.

Role Overview

• Provide onsite and desk-side IT support for customer environments in the WNY area.
• Support the smooth operation of Windows operating systems across all devices.
• Assist with basic networking troubleshooting and support tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure IT devices on customer sites, including server rack equipment.
• Deliver desktop support by resolving hardware and software issues for end-users.
• Assist with basic network support and troubleshooting activities.
• Maintain and support Active Directory and user accounts.
• Collaborate with team members to improve IT processes and support workflows.
• Document and track issues using the company’s ticketing system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (must have a car).
• Proven experience in desktop support and basic network troubleshooting.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Active Directory management.
• Proficiency with Windows operating systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.

Schedule and Work Setup

• Full-time, onsite role.
• Normal working hours: 8:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.
• Occasional special projects may require working off hours or weekends, with compensation.

Compensation and Location

• $17.50 - $19.50 per hour
• Location: Buffalo, NY 14219 (required)
