As a Senior Site Engineer at Buzzi Unicem USA, you will oversee on-site civil works, ensuring QA/QC and seamless coordination among contractors and project teams for foundations, concrete silos, retaining walls, and related structures. This role offers remote-work eligibility, enabling you to contribute from outside the Bethlehem, PA office while maintaining close collaboration with plant operations and engineering partners.
You will bring technical supervision to field installations, verify compliance with engineered drawings and specifications, and interpret codes and engineering notes to drive quality and safety on site.
Responsibilities
- This position supports remote work and does not require residency at the Bethlehem, PA corporate office.
- Provide on-site technical supervision for foundations, reinforced concrete silos (slip form and shotcrete relining), retaining walls, and other concrete structures.
- Verify that structural works comply with engineered drawings and specifications.
- Interpret and react to codes, standards, and engineering notes as they pertain to field activities.
- Monitor concrete quality, formwork cycles, reinforcement placement, embed installation, and slip-form operation parameters.
- Review and validate contractor daily reports, progress measurements, and construction records.
- Support resolution of site technical issues through coordination with engineering, project management, and contracting teams.
- Coordinate field activities with ongoing plant operations to minimize disruptions.
- Conduct daily field inspections and ensure adherence to QA/QC requirements for concrete, steel reinforcement, foundations, and structural works.
- Understand test reports for slump, density, compressive strength, and other critical tests as part of quality control.
- Verify contractor compliance with construction methodologies, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation.
- Oversee and document inspections for formwork, rebar, foundations, lifts, and concrete pours.
- Identify non-conformities, support root-cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Monitor subcontractor activity, ensuring proper sequencing and interface coordination.
- Review structural drawings, reports, and calculations to ensure constructability and site feasibility.
- Prepare field reports, inspection logs, and technical notes to support project documentation.
- Assist in engineering revisions by collecting field data, measurements, and photographs.
- Verify as-built information is accurately collected and transmitted to engineering teams by the installing contractor.
- Ensure civil works comply with safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard identification activities; monitor and escalate unsafe conditions.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Planners, Procurement, Quality/Procedures, and Plant Engineering teams.
- Support cost and progress verification for civil activities through field measurements and documentation.
- Participate in constructability assessments and risk evaluations for civil and structural scopes.
- Provide field intelligence to improve design, mitigate risks, and support schedule and cost planning.
