Job Description

Lead Software Engineer role at JPMorganChase in Tampa, onsite, focusing on designing, building, and delivering secure, scalable technology products within the Commercial & Investment Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers innovative software solutions from design through deployment and debugging, tackling complex problems beyond standard approaches.
  • Writes secure, production-ready code and reviews colleagues' work, debugging as needed.
  • Leads the adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and reliability, including AI-assisted code review, refactoring, testing acceleration, and incident analysis; sets consistent validation standards and promotes reuse of effective patterns.
  • Leverages the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation, to maximize automation value.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate recurring remediation tasks, boosting stability of applications and systems.
  • Guides evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectures, credentials, and applicability for existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to raise awareness and adoption of new technologies.
  • Fosters a team culture that emphasizes diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering and at least five years of hands-on experience.
  • Proven track record guiding the use of approved AI-assisted development tools for coding, reviews, testing acceleration, and troubleshooting, with clear standards for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and adherence to resiliency and security requirements; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant AI adoption.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
  • Strong command of automation and continuous delivery practices.
  • Proficiency across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Proven capability in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile.
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT ecosystems.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
