Java Software Engineer

Shield Consulting Solutions is hiring a Java Software Engineer to support a Java-based, Agile software development effort in Annapolis Junction, MD. This role focuses on building and enhancing Java applications while expanding hands-on experience with modern Java technologies including Quarkus and PrimeFaces.

You will collaborate within an Agile team to plan, track, and manage software activities and requirements, contribute to quality control on deliverables, and partner with customers to clarify requirements, constraints, and performance needs.

Responsibilities

• Join a Java-focused software development effort using Java as the primary language.
• Work in an Agile environment to assign, track, and manage software activities and requirements within the team.
• Expand Java skills and apply technologies such as Quarkus and PrimeFaces.
• Design or implement complex algorithms while meeting strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; perform quality control on team products.
• Implement recommendations to improve documentation and software development process standards.
• Confer with the customer as a team to derive software requirements and to gather project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functions to ensure operational specifications are met.

Requirements

• 7 years of experience as a software engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• 4 additional years of software engineering experience may be substituted for a degree.
• Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph REQUIRED.
