Junior Data Engineer
Job Description
Kenect is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to help move critical business data into BigQuery, transform it with dbt, and deliver dependable models that revenue teams can use in Power BI and other downstream tools. You will build ELT pipelines, keep orchestration healthy in Airflow, and bring clarity to complex data through thoughtful discovery and documentation. This onsite role is based in Pleasant Grove, UT, with a work environment that includes an onsite gym and a breakroom stocked with snacks and drinks.
What you’ll work on
- Build and maintain ELT pipelines that load data from Salesforce, Outreach, Nooks, and other core systems into BigQuery, ensuring accuracy and timely availability for teams
- Develop and maintain dbt models to transform raw sources into clean, documented, and trustworthy tables
- Partner with engineers who own product systems to understand how data is structured, then translate that into business-friendly definitions for go-to-market teams
- Own data discovery and documentation: where data lives, what fields mean, how entities relate, and which sources are authoritative
- Monitor pipeline and orchestration health in Airflow, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes
- Translate go-to-market reporting needs into reliable data models supporting Power BI and other tools
- Support data infrastructure and evaluation pipelines behind production AI agent systems running on Modal
- Ship well-tested changes using Git-based workflows with GitHub, CircleCI, and peer code review
- Use AI coding assistants as part of your workflow to learn unfamiliar systems faster while maintaining strong engineering standards
What we’re looking for
- 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and efficient queries for large datasets
- Proficiency in Python for pipeline development and API integrations, plus comfort with Git-based version control
- Experience with a cloud data warehouse with BigQuery preferred
- Familiarity with dbt and an orchestrator such as Airflow preferred
- Ability to work through unfamiliar data by asking the right questions and translating findings into clear business terms
- Exposure to CRM and go-to-market systems such as Salesforce or Outreach preferred
- Documentation discipline: build it and document it clearly so others can maintain and extend it
- Figure-it-out mindset: scope problems and move toward practical solutions even when all details are not known
Tools you’ll use
