Job Description
Deloitte is seeking a Lead Applied AI Engineer II to help build and enhance high-visibility full-stack products that use applied AI, GenAI, and agentic capabilities. This onsite role in Hermitage, TN focuses on end-to-end delivery from concept through production, with technical leadership grounded in customer outcomes, quality, and cost-aware engineering.
Responsibilities
- Drive a culture of accountability for customer and business outcomes, including the cost of achieving them.
- Design and deliver engineering solutions for complex problems, ensuring lean design and high-quality implementation while owning inference, token, and cloud costs.
- Act as a technical advocate for products by ensuring code integrity, feasibility, and alignment to business and customer goals.
- Own requirement analysis, low-level architecture, component design, development, testing, integrations, and support.
- Maintain accountability for architecture and technical stack integrity against enterprise standards and strategy.
- Manage dependencies across code design, implementation, quality, data, and ongoing maintenance and operations.
- Stay hands-on, self-driven, and continuously learn new approaches, languages, and frameworks.
- Create technical specifications and write high-quality, supportable, scalable code; review others’ code and mentor to meet or exceed quality KPIs.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and integrate multiple perspectives to balance feasibility, viability, usability, and value.
- Develop lean engineering solutions through rapid, inexpensive experimentation, and adopt an evidence-led mindset that favors action over extensive planning.
- Engage with customers and product teams before, during, and after delivery to help ensure the right solution is delivered at the right time.
- Contribute to daily product deployments with full automation from discovery to production to operations, including quality checks through the SSDLC lifecycle, using modern software engineering practices and AI and Agentic SSDLC approaches.
- Translate business and user needs, architectures, and UX/UI designs into technical specifications and code, and create coherent narratives that connect technical solutions to business objectives.
- Work with product engineering teams across organizational levels, including customers as needed, and help build constructive relationships and shared momentum.
- Inspire and influence through well-structured arguments and trade-offs supported by evidence, and drive consensus on feasible solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, machine learning, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with most of: JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, React, NodeJS, Python, SQL/NoSQL, REST/API integrations, ServiceNow application development and deployment patterns, LangChain, LangGraph, plus unit and integration testing frameworks.
- 3+ years building AI/ML and agentic applications, including hands-on GenAI work across LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models), RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, vector databases, evaluations, and AI agent orchestration, plus applied AI capabilities on ServiceNow.
- 3+ years cloud-native engineering experience using FaaS, PaaS, micro-services, or enterprise platform deployment models, including Azure, AWS, GCP, and AI/ML services such as ServiceNow NowAssist, with infrastructure-as-code and FinOps accountability.
- 1+ years experience establishing engineering standards, including leading, mentoring, and guiding teams in adoption and continuous improvement.
- Experience with Business Context Diagrams (BCD), sequence/activity/state/entity relationship/data flow diagrams, OOP/OOD, data structures, algorithms, code instrumentation, and AI-augmented spec-driven development.
- Experience using methodologies and tools such as XP, Lean, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube, Automated Test Framework (ATF), MLflow, and agentic AI frameworks (for example: ServiceNow NASK, MCP, LangFuse, LangSmith, or equivalent multi-agent orchestration tools).
- ServiceNow engineering experience including platform architecture, workflow automation, integrations, and AI-enabled ServiceNow capabilities, with the ability to translate product needs into scalable enterprise solutions.
- Preferred certifications may include ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, CIS-HRSD, CIS-Data Foundations, CIS-ITSM, CIS-IRM, CIS-SPM, AI/GenAI-focused ServiceNow credentials, or relevant cloud/AI certifications.
