Summary
The AI Engineer will deliver Claude workflows for invoice intake, extraction, GL coding, and approval routing within a NetSuite accounts payable automation program. Ownership includes validation through an evaluation harness and regression checks, along with monitoring and finance reporting workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build Claude invoice intake, extraction, and GL coding workflows, tuned to the client’s historical coding patterns and vendor mix.
- Configure auto-approve versus exception routing, including implementation of human-in-the-loop thresholds for high-value transactions.
- Author, test, and version a prompt library covering coding, duplicate rationale, exception summaries, and anomaly analysis.
- Create ground-truth datasets from historical invoices and run accuracy scoring and regression checks on every change.
- Validate extraction and coding accuracy against agreed targets and document outcomes as acceptance evidence.
- Develop Claude-assisted analysis and duplicate saved searches to generate investigation summaries and disposition drafts.
- Build a budget-versus-actual variance commentary workflow for the finance team.
- Support cutover, capture baseline metrics, and participate in post-implementation hypercare.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2+ years building production workflows on LLM APIs, with Anthropic Claude strongly preferred, including prompt engineering, structured extraction, and confidence scoring.
- Strong Python and REST API integration; ability to work against a third-party ERP that was not built by you.
- Document extraction at production quality for invoices, forms, contracts, or similar semi-structured documents.
- Experience building evaluation sets and regression suites for non-deterministic output, with the ability to distinguish genuine accuracy improvements from noise.
- Structured output and schema validation, including robust handling for malformed or low-confidence results.
- Disciplined prompt iteration driven by real data rather than synthetic happy-path examples.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States as an independent contractor.
- Two references minimum, three preferred, from production LLM work you personally built (demos, pilots, and proofs of concept do not qualify).

Preferred Qualifications
- SuiteScript 2.x or prior NetSuite / ERP integration experience.
- AP, finance, or accounting document processing background.
- OCR and document-capture pipeline experience.
- Experience on a team where an architect owns the design and you own the build.
