Job Description

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to steer backend Java and cloud initiatives within the Consumer & Community Banking division. This onsite role in Jersey City places you as a core technical contributor on an agile team, building secure, scalable solutions that align with the firm’s strategic objectives. The position offers a compensation range of USD 152,000 to 215,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develops innovative software solutions, handles design and debugging, and approaches problems beyond routine methods to create robust outcomes.
  • Writes secure, high-quality production code and reviews code written by teammates.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to enhance overall operational stability.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of Java development experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
  • Strong proficiency with REST APIs.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka.
  • Advanced understanding of multi-region deployments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Artificial Intelligence tools such as Co-Pilot and large language models (LLMs).
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
  • Cloud infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures.
