Lead Software Engineer - Backend/Java/Cloud
Job Description
JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to steer backend Java and cloud initiatives within the Consumer & Community Banking division. This onsite role in Jersey City places you as a core technical contributor on an agile team, building secure, scalable solutions that align with the firm’s strategic objectives. The position offers a compensation range of USD 152,000 to 215,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develops innovative software solutions, handles design and debugging, and approaches problems beyond routine methods to create robust outcomes.
- Writes secure, high-quality production code and reviews code written by teammates.
- Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to enhance overall operational stability.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.
Requirements
- More than 5 years of Java development experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Strong proficiency with REST APIs.
- Experience with Apache Kafka.
- Advanced understanding of multi-region deployments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Artificial Intelligence tools such as Co-Pilot and large language models (LLMs).
- Deep knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
- Cloud infrastructure experience.
- Experience with event-driven architectures.
