Job Description

This Lead Software Engineer - Machine Learning role focuses on deploying end-to-end ML models, securing production code, and advancing AI driven engineering practices within the Commercial and Investment Bank Payments Technology team. The position is based onsite in Jersey City, NJ, with a salary range of USD 152,000 to 215,000 per year and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to the business, technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Deploy and serve end-to-end ML models.
  • Deploy and maintain services in a fully cloud-native environment.
  • Champion enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and promote reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and review or debug code written by others.
  • Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate for firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices.
  • Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value.
  • Influence peers and project decision-makers to adopt leading-edge technologies.
  • Foster a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering plus a minimum of five years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of software applications and technical processes with deep expertise in at least one domain (cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Solid understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
  • Educational background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
