Manager, Cybersecurity Operations & Engineering
Job Description
The Specialty Alliance is seeking a Manager, Cybersecurity Operations & Engineering to lead cybersecurity engineering and act as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity baselines and configurations across the GIA enterprise. This onsite role in Southlake, TX combines engineering leadership with technical planning, verification, and day-to-day support for enterprise networking and cybersecurity services, with a strong focus on documentation, process, and compliance readiness.
In this position, you will manage assigned projects, mentor the Cyber Security Team, and coordinate test strategies, audits, and operational responses aligned with service level expectations. You will also partner with Networking and IT Infrastructure teams to maintain secure configurations while supporting current and future security domains such as cloud computing and DevSecOps.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop recommendations for infrastructure management to assess near- and long-term cybersecurity capacity needs, and justify people and/or technology resource requirements.
- Lead technical planning, verification, evaluation, and analysis of critical program information, including cost and risk.
- Provide direct leadership and mentorship to the Cyber Security Team, delivering tactical milestones for portfolio mergers and acquisitions and technical migrations across the enterprise.
- Participate in planning and implementation of current and future security domains, including new service areas such as Cloud Computing, DevSecOps, threat intelligence and hunting, and EDR.
- Support capture efforts and future capabilities to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Engage with customers and auditors to address technical concerns and resolve issues.
- Develop and coordinate test strategies, plans, procedures, and reports across programs to support thorough validation and success.
- Monitor ITSM tickets and ensure timely response and resolutions within SLAs.
- Partner with Networking and IT Infrastructure teams to address risks and maintain secure configurations.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly audits of cybersecurity baselines as required.
- Develop and maintain hardening standards for all operating systems used by the enterprise.
- Work with management and the team to gather input, diagnose root causes, and resolve problems.
- Document processes to standardize end-user experience and proactively communicate with management throughout problem resolution.
- Interface with leadership, engineers, and vendor technical support resources.
- Assist in developing and maintaining disaster recovery planning, including testing and updating documentation as needed.
- Recommend and justify upgrades to infrastructure and systems.
- Build, implement, and document new locations using industry best practices and established compliance policies.
- Participate in ongoing certification and training opportunities.
- Conduct training for junior team members and subordinates.
- Lead and participate in collaboration with other teams to implement projects across the organization.
- Continuously explore new technologies to enhance control compliance and security capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma from a college or vocational school, or equivalence of education and work experience (STEM degree preferred).
- Four (4) + years providing hardware and software technical support; supervisory experience required.
- Experience supporting networking, security, virtualization, systems administration, and storage software and hardware products.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting in an IT environment (server, application, or infrastructure).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience implementing industry-standard EDR/MSSP platforms (examples include CrowdStrike/Falcon Complete, Sentinal One, Trellix, Cloudflare, Mimecast).
- Proven ability to diagnose, resolve, and document technical support issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a positive, customer-centric approach.
- Working experience in systems administration, cyber security, and/or internal IT support.
- Ability to travel to office locations (10%). Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and own transportation.
- Self-managed or able to work with little supervision; persistence in solving technical problems; flexibility and initiative; accountability for schedule and reporting.
- Conceptual thinking.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server products, Unix, and Linux operating systems.
Education and Certifications
- Diploma from college or vocational school (or equivalent education and work experience).
- Desired certifications (one or more): CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security+, GSLC, CASP+, CRISC.
- Pursuit of certification at the systems administration level from Microsoft and VMware.

Role Details
- Location: Southlake, TX (onsite)
- Salary: USD 125,000 - 155,000 per year
- Minimum experience: 4 years
