Mechanical Sub-Systems Engineer
Job Description
Full-time Mechanical Sub-Systems Engineer focusing on design, execution, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and modifications for DoD aircraft platforms, including engineering investigations, documentation, and airworthiness.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed solutions for technical, operational, and maintenance problems
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting
- Rig aircraft control systems
- Repair and troubleshoot aircraft hydraulic systems
- Repair and troubleshoot aircraft fire detection and suppression systems
- Repair and troubleshoot aircraft fuel systems
- Repair and troubleshoot aircraft pressurization systems
- Present technical findings to management or team
- Ensure repairs comply with approved naval aviation maintenance policies
- Perform engineering investigations of failed aircraft components and systems
- Provide disposition for obsolete aircraft system components
- Determine criticality of aircraft system components by performing failure mode effects and criticality analysis
- Review technical publication deficiency reports and update publications as necessary
- Ensure aircraft operates properly and safely
- Draw and read blueprints, provide material estimates and time required for repairs
- Determine aircraft airworthiness
- Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, develop, implement, test, and evaluate projects within the mechanical engineering discipline
- Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, and other technical documentation
- Travel up to 10% may be required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, aerodynamics, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 4 years of mechanical systems engineering experience within the aviation, aerospace, or defense sector
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and integration of test equipment, electrical/power, air conditioning, cabin pressure, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in aircraft
- Experience reading, creating, and editing drawings in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and working with instructions in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience prototyping and validating installations
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay
Compensation: USD 40.00 - 87.00 per hour
Work Authorization / Security Clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must qualify for Secret Clearance
