Mid Data Engineer

Castalia Systems is hiring a Mid-Level Data Engineer to help ensure data is available and reliable, covering how data is moved, modified, and stored for high-priority users. This hybrid role in Arlington, VA supports scalable delivery of data pipelines that enable successful deployments.

In this position, you will build and operationalize data workflows, including ETL processes, while working in an Agile Scrum environment. You will also apply database and data platform knowledge across relational systems and data-focused technologies used for storage and organization.

Role Summary

Maintain data availability by enabling movement, modification, and storage of critical data, and support scalable, successful data pipeline deployment for key users.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes for data handling and delivery.
• Support scalable data pipeline operations aligned to high-priority user needs.

Requirements

• BS Degree.
• 3+ years of professional experience for most opportunities.
• Python experience for data manipulation and scripting.
• Databricks experience.
• Proficiency designing and implementing ETL data processes.
• Experience with at least one relational database, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite.
• Experience with Agile SCRUM methodologies.

Salary

• USD 130,000 - 140,000 per year

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with database design, server management, connection protocols, database normalization, and principles of information theory
• Experience with data cleaning or data organization
• Familiar with NiFi, SQL, NoSQL and Graph Databases and Data Lakes
• Familiar with dashboarding tools similar to Qlik
• Familiar with cybersecurity with design and implementation of unique data transfer protocols
