Mid-Level Software Engineer
Job Description
Leidos invites applications for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support the Chinook Program, delivering secure, cloud-native software for an Intelligence Community customer. This onsite role in Gaithersburg, MD focuses on building and delivering full-stack solutions that enable GEOINT missions with robust security and scalable architectures.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software aligned with the GEOINT mission requirements.
- Participate in agile sprints, contributing to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Build and maintain secure, containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Develop RESTful APIs and user interfaces with modern frameworks such as React, Node.js, Flask, or Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with mission users and product managers to refine requirements and improve user experiences.
- Support DevSecOps pipelines and ensure compliance with security and accreditation standards.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed.
- Address tasks prioritized by the product owner to sustain progress across sprints.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required for the contract.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 2-6 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a polygraph examination.
- Web technologies including HTML, CSS, JSON, Ajax, and REST APIs.
- Object-oriented programming with Python, Java, or JavaScript; advanced experience with Go.
- Front-end and back-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, jQuery, Spring Boot, Django, Node.js, Flask, or Svelte.
- Cloud development experience on AWS, Azure, or similar platforms; familiarity with AWS GovCloud or similar environments is a plus.
- Relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server; operating systems in Windows and Linux.
- Version control with Git; experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and agile tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong understanding of modern software design patterns, coding standards, and secure coding practices aligned with government accreditation processes (RMF, STIGs).
- Experience architecting, developing, and delivering complex software systems into production.
- Desire and aptitude to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.

Compensation
Salary range: USD 87,100 to 157,450 per year.
