Job Description

Drummond Carpenter, PLLC offers a hybrid work environment in Gainesville, FL, with options for remote work or placement in Maitland/Orlando, St. Pete, or Pensacola offices. The role provides a path to lead and grow the Florida practice, designing stormwater and civil infrastructure while mentoring staff and developing client relationships. You will contribute to watershed planning, flood mitigation, green infrastructure, water quality, and environmental permitting for municipal, state, and federal projects. The position comes with a competitive salary of USD 95,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, client relationships, and technical teams to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Design and implement stormwater and civil infrastructure solutions for the built environment
  • Mentor junior engineers and other technical staff
  • Support business development, proposals, and strategic growth efforts
  • Oversee teams developing and applying models and design tools to support infrastructure projects
  • Utilize models and tools such as ICPR (Stormwise), EPA-SWMM, HEC-RAS, Tuflow, AutoCAD Civil3D, and ArcGIS
  • Support watershed management planning and conceptualize flood reduction and water quality improvement CIP projects
  • Lead environmental resource permitting efforts
  • Oversee preparation of technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Support field investigations and construction phase services
  • Assist clients in addressing climate resilience and long term infrastructure challenges

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering with a water resources emphasis
  • 8+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; additional credentials such as GISP, WEDG, ENV SP, CFM, PMP, CPESC, or CPSWQ are a plus
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record for business travel
