Mine Engineer

Magris Talc is seeking an onsite Mine Engineer in Cameron, Montana. The role offers a yearly salary in the range of USD 85,000 to 95,000 and requires a Bachelor’s degree in minerals or mining engineering or another technical discipline, with at least one year of related experience. This position focuses on short-range planning, survey support, and drill and blast coordination to meet production targets safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe work systems and procedures are consistently followed in line with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards, safe work practices, incident reporting, and active involvement in safety initiatives to sustain a safe work environment.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems, as well as applicable legislation.
• Develop short range mine plans (monthly, quarterly, yearly) aligned with mid to long term mine plans.
• Support drill and blast operations with blast pattern designs using MinePlan3D, schedule blast sequencing, and lead monthly drill and blast meetings.
• Track and record drilling data to evaluate key performance indicators.
• Analyze and report pit production data and KPIs.
• Coordinate engineering activities to optimize mining operations and ore utilization.
• Engineer and maintain mine plans representing short term horizons (less than 1 to 5 years) and ensure compliance.
• Lay out and assist mine operations with excavation benches and access roads.
• Provide survey control for pit operations including Daily Grade, Crest, Toe, and Ramps.
• Assist in monthly pit flights using drone technology.
• Support mining related capital projects.
• Maintain on site technology systems and infrastructure, including vendor contact, GPS systems, fleet management systems and in-pit WiFi.
• Promote and adhere to environmental and sustainability policies.
• Plan and track storage of excavated soil and reclamation activities.
• Assist with environmental submittals required by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.
• Conduct bi yearly ore stockpile inventory surveys and reports.
• Participate in corporate mine planning team reviews and audits as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in minerals/mining engineering or another technical discipline.
• 1 to 5 years of experience in a related industrial field.
• Strong organizational skills for planning and coordinating mine activities and meetings.
• Analytical and statistical abilities to evaluate data, develop mine models, and oversee ore control.
• Proficiency with data management and mine planning software, specifically MinePlan3D.
• Interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external personnel and maintain teamwork at multiple locations.
• Leadership capacity to guide mine personnel toward shared goals and objectives.
• Administrative skills to manage paperwork, reporting requirements, and system oversight while ensuring resources for safe execution.
• Self motivation to progress work with limited supervision.
• Planning expertise to develop and maintain mine plans and ensure timely completion of programs meeting legal and corporate objectives.
• Financial acumen to evaluate mine related projects and improvement ideas.
• Training and team building skills to enhance individual competencies and group performance.
• Strong communication abilities to interact with employees at all levels and with external consultants and contractors.
