Project Engineer

Maverick Tech is expanding manufacturing operations and investing in plant modernization, automation, and equipment improvement. In this onsite role in Lake Villa, IL, you will help turn engineering concepts into practical operational upgrades, with direct access to on-site 3D printing technology to support development and iteration.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Engineer, you will focus on improving machine performance and enabling automation across the facility. Your work will include hands-on assessment of current equipment, close collaboration with maintenance, and leading automation efforts aimed at reducing manual labor needs.

• Assess current machinery to improve overall intelligence and productivity.
• Partner with the maintenance department to diagnose and resolve equipment performance issues.
• Lead automation initiatives designed to minimize manual labor requirements across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and upgrade equipment to support modernization and operational efficiency.
• Use troubleshooting to identify technical challenges, including walking the production floor to locate root causes.
• Execute projects that support measurable cost savings through reduced labor, materials, and waste.

Required Qualifications

• Between two and five years of background in high-volume manufacturing in roles involving CAPEX, Industrial, CI, Process, or Project Engineering.
• Proven experience managing equipment upgrades and delivering projects that drive cost savings in labor, materials, and waste reduction.
• Strong mechanical skills and willingness to engage directly with equipment.
• Practical troubleshooting experience, including the ability to walk the production floor to pinpoint technical issues.
• An engineering degree is strongly desired.

Compensation and Location

Lake Villa, IL (onsite). Salary range: USD 31 to 52 per hour.
