Network Engineer V (On Site Extreme Engineer)
Job Description
Senior-level Network Engineer V on site at the Presidio of Monterey, CA, supporting the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center with extensive Extreme Networks and enterprise networking expertise on a contract basis, salary USD 128,000 to 143,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and sustain Extreme Networks switches, routers, access points, and management tools.
- Lead complex network initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions across LAN, WAN, and wireless.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for intricate network issues; identify root causes and implement effective remediation.
- Plan and document network architecture changes; create diagrams and runbooks for operational guidance.
- Mentor and coach junior network engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts/Science from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Associate degree with 7+ years, OR 9+ years of relevant network infrastructure experience in lieu of a degree, with emphasis on Extreme Networks.
- 10+ years of relevant network infrastructure experience.
- Active IAT Level II certification (one of: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) plus applicable CE/OS certification.
- CCNA or equivalent certification.
- Active Extreme Networks certification.
- U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
