Oil & Gas Production Engineer
Job Description
This onsite production engineering role in Santa Paula, CA offers a salary range of USD 140,000–145,000 per year and focuses on maintaining producing properties, optimizing operations, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop procedures and cost estimates for well completions, recompletions, and remedial work.
- Refine completion and workover plans to maximize asset value.
- Track and optimize daily well production performance.
- Monitor and control lease operating expenses.
- Engineer artificial lift systems and related equipment.
- Assess underperforming wells and recommend remedial actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams and regulatory authorities on operational matters.
- Plan and synchronize projected activities with exploration, land, operations, and other departments.
- Oversee daily operations in collaboration with rig crews and field supervisors.
- Assist well operations with emphasis on CalGEM Idle Well Management and Idle Well Test Plans.
- Conduct annual testing and recertification of injection wells.
- Perform reservoir studies as required.
- Complete permitting and regulatory reporting as required.
- Execute special tasks aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Support the acquisition of new assets.
- Represent the company at regulatory hearings and industry meetings when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 2–5 years of industry experience.
- Proficient in Excel, WellView, ProdView, OpenWells, and SROD.
- Excellent interpersonal, written communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
