Pavements & Materials Engineer Technician
Job Description
FPO is seeking a Pavements & Materials Engineer/Technician to support Southern and Southwest Ohio. This onsite role includes regional travel and hands-on work in the field, along with technical communication, training support, and assistance with pavement and materials publications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical information and assistance to FPO members, and to public and private pavement owners through written documentation, oral presentations, and in-person events.
- Conduct field assessments, including onsite project reviews, pre-construction asphalt design and mixture recommendations, and post-construction evaluations.
- Represent industry interests before state, federal, and local government agencies, as well as in affiliated industry committees and associations.
- Develop training materials, provide instruction, and deliver technical presentations as needed.
- Assist with the development of written technical publications and articles for pavement and materials stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency with computer skills and software, including Microsoft Office and web-based communication tools.
- Strong attention to detail, a very strong customer focus, and working knowledge of pavement design and construction, including mixture types, pavement thickness design, and pavement maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and electronic communication.
- Working knowledge of the Ohio Department of Transportation Construction & Materials Specifications.

- Travel: Regional and out of state travel is required
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience will be considered.
- Registration in the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer is preferred.
