Plans Check Engineer

This onsite, full-time opportunity in Los Banos, CA offers a competitive hourly rate of $40 to $48 and a robust benefits package designed to support your financial security and well-being. You will conduct technical plan reviews to verify compliance with structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, accessibility, and related codes for projects across Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin Counties.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specifications of residential, commercial, industrial, public or other major developments to ensure compliance with building codes and ordinances.
• Advise architects, designers, contractors and developers on code and design requirements.
• Assists in building inspectors on difficult or unusual code requirements for major structures.
• Answers inquiries from the public relating to the regulations for building and housing construction, remodeling, and repair, including structural, nonstructural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and zoning matters.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Maintain a healthy working relationship with contractors, builders, and the public.
• Excellent customer service skills including good listening and negotiating abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with common computer software such as MS Office, Teams, Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
• The ability to identify and solve complex problems by conferring and providing information to developers, engineers, architects, property owners, contractors, and others regarding code requirements and alternatives.
