Power and Control Systems Design Engineer

The Power and Control Systems Design Engineer leads EI&C design packages for municipal and industrial projects, focusing on electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls, PLC/HMI architectures, and field installation support. This hybrid role is based in Chandler, Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Specify electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls to monitor, operate, and control mechanical, process, and electrical systems.
• Create power system studies to inform design decisions.
• Prepare the EI&C portions of P&IDs.
• Produce logic diagrams, control narratives (sequence of operations), and wiring diagrams.
• Develop instrument indexes and design control panels.
• Select and specify instruments and control valves.
• Design PLC/HMI architecture, including Ethernet and remote I/O networks.
• Interpret and apply codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines to integrate EI&C systems.
• Provide field assistance when needed; monitor on-site installation, startup, and operation of instrumentation and controls.
• Conduct equipment inspections as required.
• Travel as needed to support project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years of design experience applying the NEC, with the ability to lead industrial facilities design and construction projects.
• Strong ability to quickly understand network layouts and I/O diagrams.
• AutoCAD or Revit experience is a plus; PLC and HMI programming experience is a plus.
• P.E. licensure is a plus; CEI supports licensure pursuit for designers.
• Knowledge of mechanical or chemical processes is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
